Unlike your typical NRI/foreigner, I am not one to gloss over the shortcomings of this country with trite remarks about spirituality versus materialism, or self-serving justifications for the state of affairs. I have decided to tackle the quagmire that this country is embedded in by going in headlong and headstrong with a deliberately provocative and unrepentant proposition that I feel is necessary and the only way to even attempt to induce the mental makeover necessary in this country.

My intent being to provoke reaction- and thereby hopefully begin to change attitudes and actions- with outrageously straight talk, I expect strong words and opinions in the responses, and welcome them. Equally, though, I believe your opinions should nevertheless observe a level of decorum which does not stoop to name-calling, personal insults and vulgarity. Therefore, all comments will be moderated for decency, but not for conformity of opinion. I welcome the gamut of opinions, and if and when time permits, I will engage with my own responses. So please, abide by some basic rules, and we can have an enjoyable slugfest!
